Ingredients
- 1 cup Dates, chopped fine
- 6 cups onions, sliced thin
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 Tbsp. Date sugar
- 1/2 cup butter
- 5 cups beef stock
- 1 dash hot sauce
- 1 tsp. Worchestershire
- 1/2 tsp. ground thyme
- 1 bay leaf
- 6 slices of cheese
- 6 slices French Bread
Instructions
- Slice French Bread into 1.5 inch slices. Place on sheet pan. Dry out in oven at 275 degrees.
- In large stock pot, saute onions, butter and salt over medium heat for 35 minutes.
- Add stock, hot sauce, Worchestershire, thyme and bay leaf. Bring to a boil, simmer for 30 minutes.
- Ladle beef and onion soupd over French bread in oven proof bowls, top with cheese. Broil 3-5 minutes.
